My name is Mark Wilson; I’ve been known as Red (aka Redherring) since High School. When I started painting it felt natural to use the name Redherring to sign my work. The name is part of my history and I like that a red herring is something that misleads or distracts intentionally.

Starting a Bachelor of Fine Arts – Studio Practice at UNSW in 2022, I aim to expand my understanding of art’s role in society and learn various methodologies for my practice, including painting, print making, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics.
I am self-taught and my University experience has encouraged me to experiment with different processes and materials. I really enjoy exploring the fusion of various styles such as stencilling and printmaking into my practice.
I have an interest in politics, what is happening in society and the world around me. I enjoy making Political Pop art that sparks conversation and leads to social change.
